# Asset sources

- `tokyo-watercolor.webp`: original generated illustration for Miki Trips; optimized from the original 1536 × 1024 image to a 720 × 480 WebP.
- `china-shanghai.webp`: "Pudong skyline at dusk" by Lloyd Tudor, [CC BY-SA 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/), from [Wikimedia Commons](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Pudong_skyline_at_dusk.jpg); resized to a 720 × 480 WebP.

- `land.js`: dot-sampled [Natural Earth 1:110m land](https://github.com/nvkelso/natural-earth-vector/blob/master/geojson/ne_110m_land.geojson), a public-domain dataset. Samples use 2° latitude spacing and longitude spacing adjusted by latitude. Intended for the decorative globe, not navigation.

All assets are served locally. The browser does not contact a font CDN or map API to render the atlas.

City atlas cards also reuse `/china2026/photos/sz-civic-center-1.webp` (Sparktour, CC BY-SA 4.0) and `/china2026/photos/hk-victoria-peak-1.webp` (Haydn Hsin, CC BY-SA 3.0). Full source and license links remain in `/china2026/photos/CREDITS.md`.

Release assets: HTML JS/CSS URLs, China `offline.js` RELEASE, and its worker registration/import use `v=20261013-city-editions-1`. Bump that token together on releases changing page code or styles. The China shell cache follows the release; its photo cache stays reusable. Mutable HTML/JS/CSS revalidate via `_headers`; photo URLs retain a one-week browser cache.

City editions: local OFL fonts in `city-fonts/` (Cormorant Garamond, Bodoni Moda, Space Grotesk, Barlow Condensed), Latin-subset WOFF2 from google/fonts; full OFL licenses alongside. Hero photography uses byte-identical copies of the original catalogue images in `city-covers/`, and displays source/author/license credits from place metadata. CSS treatments apply only to collection pages.
